Match and the Musculoskeletal Oncology Fellowship Match is
sponsored by the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS),
the Hip Society
(HS), the Knee Society (KS) and the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS).
International Residents may apply for the 2012 Match, provided they can demonstrate to the programs they are applying to that they are able to meet the visa and licensure requirement to practice in the US or Canada, and will be board eligible with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery at the start of Fellowship Training. The burden of proof is on the applicant. The decision to interview any candidate lies solely with the Fellowship Program.
Registration and the match is administered by the San Francisco Matching Program
(SF Match). The Adult Reconstructive Hip and Knee Fellowship Match and the Musculoskeletal Oncology Fellowship Match Program is designed to be a transparent, unbiased process in which applicants are matched to adult reconstructive or Musculoskeletal Oncology fellowship programs on a competitive basis.
Sponsorship
The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons
(AAHKS),
the Hip Society (HS), the Knee Society (KS) and the Musculoskeletal Tumor
Society (MSTS) sponsor the matching process and are responsible for enforcement of applicable rules. The Matching office does not sponsor or approve any of the participating programs. The function of the Matching Program is strictly limited to processing of the match. Listing or not listing of any program in the directory does not imply any form of approval, disapproval or endorsement.
About the Match
The Match takes place in April and will be used to process all applicants who want to start their fellowship training in July/August of the following year. There is $100 non-refundable registration fee that covers registration and matching. To register for the Match, click on "Login/Register" button on the left-hand side menu. Once registered you will gain access to view the Program Directory and make your program selections. Visit the "Steps" page for more information.
Applicants and programs must abide by the Code of Conduct.
The use of the Central Application Service (CAS) is mandatory for applicants and programs. Applicants only need to fill out one application form and provide one set of documents including letters of recommendation, USMLE and a curriculum vitae. Applications and documents are distributed to specified programs using the online system.
Applicants Registered In More Than One Match
If you have registered for more than one orthopaedic fellowship match please be aware that upon successfully matching to an orthopaedic specialty, you will be withdrawn from all other specialty matches. The fees paid to register/apply to other specialties are not refundable once you have matched.
