3948 Baylor College of Medicine Orthopedic Adult Reconstruction Fellowship Program
 
DESCRIPTION:

Position: Offering a post-residency fellowship clinical position to begin on 08/01/10

Prerequisites: M.D. degree, graduate from an approved Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program, completed Fellowship Application, letter of reference from the residency program Director, a Texas Medical License and CPR certification (ATLS or ACLS).

IMG Prerequisites: All International Medical Graduates must have a current ECFMG certificate, along with the required additional application materials. Visas are not sponsored and this fellowship only accepts J-1 visas.

Adult reconstructive surgery, primarily joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee. The fellow will participate in a large volume of primary and revision cases, including the state of the art and investigational techniques. The fellowship will stress patient selection, pre-operative planning, surgical techniques and patient follow-up. A case load of approximately 1500 joint Arthroplasties per year provides adequate hands-on service. The faculty includes Brian S. Parsley, MD; Glenn C. Landon, MD; Melvyn A. Harrington, MD; Terry A. Clyburn, MD; and Philip C. Noble, PhD. Participation and presentation at a weekly Adult Reconstruction case conference is required. The program also provides access to journal clubs, resident training, Grand Rounds, and multiple visiting lecturers on a variety of different topics. The nationally-recognized Orthopedic Research Laboratory is available for research projects under the guidance of Philip C. Noble, PhD. A minimum of one publishable quality research paper is required, and presentations at national and local meetings are encouraged. Attendance to the AAOS annual meeting and the AAHKS annual meeting is also provided.
